About Kaizen
What is Kaizen Education?
Kaizen Education is an advanced hair education company for licensed professionals, founded by Sal Misseri and based at Reverie Salon, 300 W Grand Ave, Suite 5, in Chicago's River North. It offers hands-on group classes, private mentoring and in-salon team training in haircutting, hair color and salon business.
Who founded Kaizen Education?
Sal Misseri — Chicago hairstylist and educator, Davines Global Artist, 17-time NAHA-recognized stylist and the founder of Reverie Salon. From 2016 to 2020 he worked with Davines on new product launches, including The Century of Light, and trained the brand's North American hair colour education team.
What does Kaizen mean?
Kaizen is a Japanese word usually translated as continuous improvement — kai, change, and zen, good. It describes small, deliberate improvements that compound into mastery.
Is Kaizen Education a cosmetology school?
No. Kaizen is advanced, post-license education for working hair professionals. It does not offer cosmetology licensing hours.
Classes
What classes does Kaizen offer?
Two signature classes — Regenerative Hair Color: The Air Weaving Method, a six-to-eight-hour stylist intensive, and Chair to CEO, an eight-hour salon owner intensive — plus cutting classes in curly cutting, dry cutting, razor cutting, the bob, modern men's cutting and long layers, and color classes in balayage, precision foiling, Air Weaving and color formulation. The most popular are Regenerative Hair Color, curly cutting, balayage, dry cutting, razor cutting, precision foiling and the bob.
How much do Kaizen classes cost?
Cutting and color classes start from $600 per person for six to eight hours of hands-on training. Regenerative Hair Color is from $600; Chair to CEO is $1,495 per owner, or $2,495 VIP. Payment plans are available on select classes.
When and where are classes held?
Group classes run throughout the year at Reverie Salon in River North, Chicago. New dates are announced on Instagram at @kaizen_education, or call (312) 955-0083.
Who can take a Kaizen class?
Licensed stylists and colorists, salon assistants on a professional track, and salon owners and managers.
Mentoring and in-salon education
Can I train one-to-one?
Yes. Private mentoring is a one-to-one day with Sal Misseri or a Kaizen educator at Reverie Salon, built around your own goals.
Will Kaizen come to my salon?
Yes. In-salon education brings Sal Misseri and the Kaizen educators to your salon, in the US or internationally, to train your whole team to one standard. In-salon programs are billed as a day rate plus travel expenses.
